House rules
- Quiet from 22:00 to 7:00. The walls are almost a meter thick, but the stairwell carries every step.
- The gallery until sunset. After dark we go up only with the keeper, while the light is working.
- In the tower, guests from age 10. The stairs are steep and winding; with younger children, stay in the Keeper’s Room.
- Dogs only in the Keeper’s Room. On a leash in the courtyard, because the cliff is close.
- No candles or open flames. The floors and stairs in the tower are wooden.
- Smoking only on the bench above the cliff. The ashtray is under the bench.
- Into the lantern only with the keeper. It’s a working navigation light, not part of your room.
- Free cancellation up to 7 days before arrival. After that we ask for half the price of the first night.
Questions
- Will I see the sunset from my room?
- It depends on the date and the window. The sun sets in a different place every day, from 228° in December to 315° in June. On each room’s page we work it out for the whole year.
- Doesn’t the lighthouse shine into the rooms?
- No, the beam passes over the roof. The lantern is above the Crow’s Nest, and the beam goes out level over the sea. In the rooms you only see its reflection on the water.
- How many stairs are there?
- 118 steps to the Crow’s Nest. 24 to the Forecastle, 47 to the Cabin, 71 to the Mess, 94 to the Chart Room. The Keeper’s Room is on the ground floor of the house, with no stairs.
- Do the rooms have bathrooms?
- Yes, each has its own. In the tower the bathrooms are on the landings of the stair tower, a few steps from the room door.
- Who carries the luggage?
- We do. We bring your suitcases from the parking lot in a golf cart and carry them up before you arrive.
- And if a storm comes?
- The lighthouse has seen worse. On a stormy night the keeper shows guests the lantern from the inside, and from the gallery you can watch the waves hit the cliff.
